Council national Ocean, EPA Seek Input to develop policy Federal Ocean (ContributorNetwork)

According a press of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the administration of the Obama is National Ocean month by organizing a series of public forums and information sessions to obtain input from local communities on or near the ocean or depend on them for economic or leisure reasons. Information sessions and public forums throughout the National month of the ocean are to facilitate the administration of Obama to obtain the comments of the public that it develops first policies of the country, focused on areas of the country's fragile Ocean.

Information sessions and public forums will be held in part by the EPA with the National Council of the ocean and other environmental partners and agencies. In total, 12 different sessions will be held across the country from next week, with two of the sessions by focusing particularly on the region of the Great Lakes, in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Gulf of Mexico, who was struck by the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill last year and has recently been the first anniversary this April.

The EPA noted that the announcement was part of the action of President Barack Obama to create a national ocean policy. According to Environment News Service, Obama President sets out the policy of the ocean in July last to create a collective effort to manage the connecting of the Great Lakes, oceans and coasts of the country. The policy, which focuses on the importance of marine ecosystems, also formally established the National Council of the ocean.

As the ENS article noted in the announcement of the creation of the Obama of the national ocean policy EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said, "the new national policy provides a clear roadmap for all federal agencies to work together with local partners, to protect our waters vital for future generations".

The press release also noted that public forums and information sessions are essential to the development of a national policy for the professional and successful ocean and these public information sessions are part of the a period of long month consultation being held by the National Council of the ocean.

According to the website of the National Council of the ocean, the other sessions will be held between 9 June and 1 July; locations include Washington, D.C.; Barrow and Anchorage, Alaska. ; Chicago. Honolulu; San Francisco; and Portland, Oregon. However, the EPA and the National Council of the ocean are encouraged members of the public who cannot attend a session to submit their comments.
