TransCanada stops line Keystone due to leak again (Reuters)

CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) - TransCanada Corp. cannot say yet when it will restart its oil pipeline Keystone 591,000 barrels per day as the second spill in less than a month, the price of oil pushed more high, while the other lines carrying Canadian oil to the United States were also closed.

The company said on Tuesday the line was closed Sunday after a fitting half inch failed leaving the Kansas of pumping station. Fitting a leak of less than 10 barrels (420 gallons) of oil, said spokesman Terry Cunha company, down from an earlier estimate of a 40-barrel spill.

"It is all contained in our pumping station," he said. "It is cleaned to and adjustment of the replaced summer, and we hope that the system works as soon as possible."

The Canada is the main supplier of oil to the United States, about 2 million barrels per day, but pipelines deliver the crude have been subjected to leaks, spills and closures of shipping.

Indeed, Enbridge Inc., whose lines carry most of the Canada crude oil exports, said failures related to the storm on the end of week closing a number of its oil pipelines in the upper Midwest [ID: nN31299604]. The system should return to normal later Tuesday.

Keystone that goes from Hardisty, Alberta, Cushing, Oklahoma, is a key to power for the storage of oil hub Cushing, the point on the New York Mercantile Exchange benchmark crude contract prices.

The United States crude prices rallied on the news of the outage, amounting to one point by almost $3 a barrel to a maximum of $103.39 Tuesday, climbing faster than based in London, benchmark Brent. By 12: 40 a.m. EDT, the price had fired back on weak US economic data, but were still up by approximately $1.40 per barrel.

Differential for crude West Texas Sour moved up to about 25 cents on the news of the closure of pipeline, traders said, with holding $2.25 on reference West Texas Intermediate and offers up to $10 cents to 2.15 in the framework offers.

"I think that he (WTS) is used in part as a backup if the line is stopped for some time", has said John Troland, an independent oil consultant based in Houston.

Record levels of crude at Cushing should mitigate any movement of grand prize. Last week, the inventories in the Centre of delivery of oil amounted to 40.1 million barrels, slightly lower than the high record of 41.9 million reached earlier in May.

The cases have little immediate effect on cash crude prices Canadian.

A problem with a more fitting was blamed for a flight of 500 barrels this month to Keystone another station of pumping North Dakota. Closing the line for six days, while the company has replaced fittings similar to its other pumping stations.

Spills coming of TransCanada mistimed, seeking approval from Keystone $ 7 billion expansion.

The Keystone XL project would add a line of Hardisty, Alberta, to the city of Steele, Nebraska and Cushing Nederland extension (Texas), to take Canadian crude oil to the coast of the Gulf refining of the hub.

The extension has been to are opposed by some legislators, federal and State environmental groups concerned about emissions from the production of oil sands greenhouse gas expanded.

There is also concern about the threat of oil spills in sensitive areas along the route. Opponents will probably use the spill of weekend to strengthen further their cause against the line.

The US State Department should rule on whether to approve the line by the end of the year.
