Toyota recalls 105,784 Prius cars to fix transmission, Director (Reuters)

TOKYO (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) said Wednesday that it will recall 105,784 first model Prius cars to the Japan and abroad to correct a fault with the model of direction and speed.

The recall will affect all its first generation Prius cars, which he launched in 1997. At home, the notice covers 47,784 vehicles, with a further 52 000 to the United States. Toyota sold the rest in the United Kingdom and Germany, said a spokesman for the company.

The month last Toyota has extended its range of Prius up with the launch of the Prius Alpha, including a two-row, five seats and a version three ranks, seven seats.

Toyota wants to sell at least 1 million hybrid vehicles globally a year by the middle of the Decade.

Toyota also reminded 33,636 QI small cars that 21,636 which he sold to the Japan between 2008 and 2009.

Toyota refused to say how much the recall cost.
